For The Beauty Bug, it was love at first scrub. The pair is a small wonder that makes Her look forward to taking time to wash Her face. She found it yesterday while perusing the new and impressive beauty department at Her local CVS. There it was; below eye level, on the end, and semi-hidden.

What looks like just another gimmick, is actually a solid little facial “scrublet” and cleanser that thoroughly cleans and exfoliates without being overly harsh or stripping. The small rubber disc is made up of 500 tiny, gentle, feelers that massage skin and remove all makeup and dirt. The scublet is super soft, and as The Beauty Bug sweeps it across Her face, She’s soothed and relaxed…and so is Her skin. She especially loves its flexibility because it lets Her get into the crevices near Her nostrils and slough off the dead skin, and remove stubborn leftover makeup.

The cleanser smells of delicious apricots, and contains salicylic acid and natural apricot seed powder to exfoliate, leaving skin smooth, refreshed and velvety soft. The Beauty Bug applies the cleanser directly to the damp scrublet and then glides it across Her face, moving it in circular motions, letting the cleanser lather and foam.

Bottom line, this little-disc-that-could cleanses a face like no one’s business. It’s great for traveling, stocking stuffers, or just because there’s room left in the medicine cabinet for one more product!

The Beauty Bug will soon be heading back to CVS for seconds – She wants to try the Deep Facial Cleanser with mint!

L’Oreal’s Go360 Facial Cleanser is available at CVS for $6.99

Disclosure: A press sample was provided to The Beauty Bug by CVS.

For years, The Beauty Bug has been pleading with The Beauty Bug Fiance to wash His face; telling him how refreshed and clean he’d feel. But, to Her dismay, all of the men’s facial products would just sit on the shelf in the shower, unused.

Then, Edith Rose (Edie) arrived and began washing his face…with kisses. After several times of telling Him he smelled like puppy, The Beauty Bug Fiance finally reached for the facial scrub from Another Logistics For Men Face-Off Kit. “What do I do?”, he asked as he stared at the bottle just like The Beauty Bug would stare at a screw driver. After a bit of coaching from The Beauty Bug and a quick lesson in face washing 101, history was made and The Beauty Bug Fiance now smelled fresh and citrus-like.

The face wash received a thumbs-up from The Beauty Bug Fiance, but more importantly, it also got The Beauty Bug stamp of approval. The grapefruit oil is refreshing and energizing, the Vitamin C and aloe vera are nourishing, and the tiny exfoliating beads do their job without over-drying. Beauty Bug Fiance, are you listening? Continued use means no more in-growns…

Other products in the kit include Glycolic Facial Cleanser, Shave Cream, and After Shave Balm. The 4-step system includes involves cleaning (Glycolic Cleanser), smoothing (exfoliating facial scrub, shaving (shave cream) and soothing (after shave balm). It serves as a great starter kit for men who haven’t quite gotten in a grooming groove.

The Beauty Bug’s next challenge is to get The Beauty Bug Fiance to expand his product repertoire and try the Glycolic Face Wash, but baby steps are key. Based on Edie’s licking habits, The Beauty Bug sees many bottles of face wash in The Beauty Big Fiance’s future.

Keep on licking Edie, to the Beauty Bug Fiance – considered yourself challenged! It’s on!

Anthony Logisitcs Face Off Kit is available for $40 at Uta, Bath and Body Works, at select Sephora locations, and at www.anthony.com.

Had The Beauty Bug known that Suki Pure Skin Care was literally right in Her backyard when She was in college, She would have done everything in Her power to land an internship there soley to stock up on products. It’s clear that She missed Her chance, but hey, who thinks organically in college? Chances are, The Beauty Bug wouldn’t have even appreciated Suki’s scientifically-formulated, completely organic, aromatic approach.

Well, ladies, times have changed – The Beauty Bug is slightly older, and a whole lot wiser, and appreciates natural hand-made products and original blends. While the entire collection is rave-worthy, the stand out product with the deserved cult following is the exfoliate foaming cleanser. It smells (and tastes – but only when The Beauty Bug is messy and manages to get a bit in Her mouth) like you’re rubbing Lemonhead candies on your face. Made with lemongrass extract, natural sugar and natural aha (alpha bet hydroxy) and bha (beta hydroxy) treatments, the cleanser/exfoliant is a bit thick and granular at first, but after some scrubbing and rubbing, it dissolves, thins and mildly foams. Rub a bit between your palms to activate. Immediately after one use, The Beauty Bug’s skin feels softer and smoother, and refreshed, and the lemon scent is unique and calming. While the jar (scoop-out method) and the consistency may seem a bit unfamiliar/unconventional, that unfamiliarity will quickly turn to an addiction.

Some quick cleanser tips – take your time with this cleanser, enjoy the sweet, fresh smell, and let it do its work. If you’re not seeing any foam, you haven’t exfoliated enough, so keep those circular motions going and give it time to melt and foam into the skin. Also, make sure thoroughly wash it all off your face. Because it’s made with natural sugar, it can tend to be a bit sticky if even the slightest bit is left behind.

suki exfoliate foaming cleanser is available on sukipure.com.

In the coming days She’ll tell more about what She learned, how the brand secured its place on the map, and about some new products to look out for in the coming months. But for now, She must gush about one of their newest launches, Purity High-Foaming Daily Cleanser. She clapped and cheered in room full of fellow editors when She found out She’d be going home with a bottle because She was curious to see if Philosophy could top themselves. Why mess with a good thing? In this industry, the original Purity is SO iconic; was there room on this pedestal for another cleanser? The Beauty Bug is happy to report that the answer is yes!

The gentle sulfate-free formula lathers into a rich, thick foam that dissolves makeup, dirt and oil. The Beauty Bug was particularly excited about this foaming action because so many foaming cleaners that She’s tried have been light, watery and separated easily.

Purity High-Foaming Cleaner shares the same recognizable, fresh scent as the original, and leaves skin soft hydrated, and most of all, refreshed. Think of it as Purity’s lighter, frothier cousin….

Even if you’re just an occasional foamer, this is a must-have for your cleanser repertoire.

foaming purity made simple is $21.50 (6 oz.) and $34.50 (12 oz.); both are available on philosophy.com, at sephora stores, sephora.com, nordstrom stores, other specialty stores.

Lately, The Beauty Bug has started off every day with some Queen Helene Mint Julep Natural Facial Scrub. It really wakes Her up so S<strike>he can be alert and ready to watch the Today Show and put off going to work</strike> She can get ready to start her day and go to work. The mint is especially refreshing on hot, humid summer days. And the Beauty Bug loves anything mint. In fact, She’s been known to go to multiple ice cream shops in one night (three or 4 to be exact) looking specifically for mint chocolate chip low-fat hard yogurt. She thanks her lucky stars that The Beauty Bug Boyfriend is so patient – but he’s used to her mint addiction by now. If only a PinkBerry would open up here in Boston…

The scrub is great for exfoliation – the Beauty Bug’s face has been a bit itchy lately (a telltale sign of dead/dry skin) and after a few mornings with this scrub and She’s feeling better. It’s a natural-fiber scrub that has a grainy consistency, but isn’t harsh or abrasive. The Beauty Bug makes sure She rubs it in circular motions all over Her face for at least two minutes.

Hey, if She can’t have mint chocolate low fat yogurt first thing in the morning, this is definitely the next best thing!

After the work, when The Beauty Bug goes home, she can not wash her face fast enough. In fact, if plumbing was portable, she’d wash her face in her car as she drove home (and you though applying makeup while driving was dangerous!). She barely has one foot in the door, and she’s making a bee line for a the bathroom to start the water and warm it up.

This past week she ran out of her Murad Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser ($25, and worth about $5) so She opened up her cabinet, closed her eyes, and blindly picked her new face wash – or as The Beauty Bug likes to call it, ‘Pin the Tale on the Face Wash.’ She chose Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Foaming Scrub. Thinking about her selection, The Beauty Bug was excited re-try this face wash.

She squeezed some face wash into her hands, and she instantly recognized the smell – so clean and crisp. She rubbed it on her face and let out her normal satisfying groan, which usually leads The Beauty Bug Boyfriend to say “are you ok?”, and the Beauty Bug, so caught up in the moment, usually doesn’t answer. The microbeads in the this formula gently exfoliate, and are mild enough that the wash can be used as an everyday cleanser/exfoliator (harsher exfoliators should be used 2-3 times per week). The light gel foams easily, and is absolutely one of the most refreshing cleaners The Beauty Bug has ever used. Trust the Beauty Bug when She says it’s much more energizing than her previous Murad “energizing” cleanser. Pick it up on your next trip to the drug store – it didn’t win an InStyle Best Beauty Buy Award for nothing.

….

And now on to more important things. It’s now the day after and it’s starting to sink in…where were you when Sanjaya got voted off?

Recently, I came across a few posts about Skinsational products and became intrigued, so I visited their site and began to familiarize myself with their products and philosophy. Unfortunately, I’m on the east coast, and Skinsational Spa is on the west coast, so I wasn’t able to take part in the whole Skinsational experience, however, I was able to try some of the signature products from the Skinsational line.

As I just mentioned in my previous post, The Beauty Bug is currently in Florida so she purposely saved the Grapefruit Foaming Face Wash for her vacation because while here, she eats grapefruits every morning for breakfast. At first look, the Beauty Bug liked these samples more than most other samples that she has received because there were instructions on how to use the product on the sample. It’s most inconvenient when you receive a sample (especially if the product is a mask or cream),and you have to spend time searching for instructions. Now, on to the actual trial. While the cleanser has a faint citrus smell, not grapefruit, it’s probably one of the more gentler, milder cleansers that Beauty Bug has ever used. The Beauty Bug has used it for 2 straight days now, and after each use she’s left with soft, calm skin. This is one of those cleaners that’s good for anyone, it’s just so delicate and smooth.

The Azulene Moisture Creme was just as pleasant. It’s weightless, absorbs very quickly and a little goes a long way. It has a stronger scent than the face wash, – a cleaner, fresher scent that the Beauty Bug liked immediately. And in case you’re wondering, Azulene comes from the Spanish word for Blue (azul) and is an organic compound commonly used in cosmetics.
